Thickening Breast Milk with Gelmix in Five Languages
Recently featured on the First Bite podcast, “Strategies from SLPs Breaking Down Barriers to PFD Care,” SLP leaders from Boston Medical Center, Juliet Ochura, MS CCC-SLP, CLC, Kerry Pearl, MS CCC-SLP, CLC, & Jennifer Perez, MS CCC-SLP, CLC, share their successful strategies and initiatives to breaking down health equity barriers. One of these initiatives was to translate dysphagia materials, including instructions for thickening breast milk and formula, and making them accessible in the 5 most commonly used languages in the United States, which are English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese and Vietnamese.
Funding for the development of the materials was provided by the Boston Medical Center Quality and Patient Safety Grant (https://www.bmc.org/quality-and-safety). How to Thicken Breast Milk with Gelmix is now available in all five languages, thanks to these amazing initiatives. Scroll below to see all five videos available now on YouTube.
